I havnt done much beach detectin, but if any members are planning to go, there is an awful lot of the coast owned by the Crown Estate which you now need a permit to detect on. They are free and can be aquired by following this link : http://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/metal-detecting I have not applied for one myself yet but i think that you fill in the appropriate boxes and it is sent via your e mail, which you can then print off. There are also maps showing crown estate beaches on the right hand side of the opening page which you can download and print off. Hope this helps. John.

Still no sign of us getting a trip organised to a beach? I have done some fantastic detecting on the beach , its like detecting on a freshly rolled field! i usually go every Friday as i take my wife and daughter out (get some tecting in at the same time) so if anyone fancies joining me then give me a ring
