That's amazing John. I really hope they're displayed locally - it would be a shame if they weren't.

Had the inquest today, it only lasted a few minutes but  the hoard was declared "Treasure".

I will have to wait and see how much they  will value them at.

Hi All,

Well, after going through the whole Treasure process and accepting the valuation 4 months ago, i have just recieved a letter from the British Museum stating, that "the museum who were intending to aquire the hoard are no longer in a position to do so", i will now be getting the coins handed back, which the landowner has kindly agreed to divide the hoard between him and myself. The british museum intend to aquire 2 of the coins which were bust variants of "Trajan" which are not in the BMC (British museum collection) or RIC.

I have mixed feeling about this. on one hand i am happy to have the coins back to display on my wall and taking them to the local shows and fetes where we display our finds.

On the other hand i am pretty disillusioned with the treasure process and feel in a way it is a bit of an anti climax, after waiting for between 1 1/2 - 2 years, only to find myself back at square one.

I think on the whole i am glad to be getting them back as i will now be able to enjoy them for the rest of my days.

John.

john as time goes by, you will be so grateful that you got them back, the only decent find i had was taken from me, and all i have to show for it is a photograph.  it was a fantastic find and you can treasure them in your own home and view whenever it takes your fancy.
