This question has often been asked "Who are we"?. We are a dedicated group of metal detectorist's who believe in un-earthing our past from unstratified layers of land, saving the artefacts from the revages of time covered in the soil.
There has been a lot said in the past by academics who wish to see this hobby banned, but we have in place now a lot of legislation guiding us to what we can and cannot do, which we adhere to.
Each society member is fully insured with the National Council for Metal Detecting and takes the hobby seriously.
We are supported by the Portable Antiquities Scheme, and everything that is over 300 years old is photographed and recorded.
Each artifact tells its own story!
We are members of the National Council for Metal Detecting and also associate members of The Landowners Association and The National Council for Physical Recreation.
So you see, we are well organized as a society to benefit the future of these items which were lost in the past and which, because of our diligence, would have otherwise never have been found.
We feel that we are doing our bit for future generations.
